There can be two types of roof gardens: intensive and extensive.
The intensive one consists of a reduced thickness of substrate. For this reason, only perennial ground cover plants such as sedum are grown, which require little watering and almost no maintenance.
The extensive one, on the other hand, is composed of a higher thickness of substrate, so all the essences that can be found in a classic garden, such as bushes, shrubs or plants, can be cultivated.
